My alarm went off and I made my first cast. It only took a few minutes and I was hooked up. A nice 16.25-inch largemouth and I was on the board at 7:06! This was shaping up just how I expected.

There’s No Crying in Fishing!
I competed at the Lake Erie Open in 2018 and had finished well. I had found some main lake smallmouth, but did most of my fishing in the bay. This year I felt I really needed to stick to the main lake and get on those giant smallmouth. This thinking would soon come back to haunt me.
The Blue Line Brawl: Part II
It had been a long week without any fishing. It was now Friday afternoon, just after 3:30 and I had enough. I shut down my work station and took off for Lake George.
The Blue Line Brawl: Part I
It was poised to be an exciting 11 days of fishing in the Adirondack and Catskill parks. The Adirondack KBF Blue Line Brawl had kicked off and the fish were starting to pop up on the leaderboard.

I was far too young to remember that exact trip, or even the subsequent few trips we made. The first time I really remember, I must have been maybe 7 or 8 … Continue reading Four Days in the Adirondack Park
May Double Header Part II: The Adirondack Paddlefest
My alarm went off at 5:00 AM and I was beat. But still, it was much nicer than the 1:30 AM alarm I had the previous day for the Lake George Trail. I got up and got ready to make the 2 hour drive to Old Forge for the Adirondack Paddlefest. It was Round 2 … Continue reading May Double Header Part II: The Adirondack Paddlefest
May Double Header Part 1: Lake George
I had studied the maps and lake bathymetry over and over again and found a great area near a public beach at the north end. I knew that at any moment a school of big smallies could pull in on any of these spots. It was as good as anything so I rolled with it.
